Review: Antipodes Natural Lipstick in Remarkably Red *

At heart, I'll always be a lippie chick. There are many times when I deviate, and go for blushes, bronzers, eyeshadow palettes (oh my!), but I always go back to my first love - lipsticks. Or lip products of any sort, for that matter, if I'm to be totally honest!
Why is that, do you ask? I think it's a great way to express yourself (red when I'm feeling bold and wanting to be a little flashy, green when I'm going to an event where that's just the vibe, nude when I'm feeling a little more low key, you get the idea) and it really jazzes up a look/outfit.

In addition to all the lovely colours, there's also a whole world of different textures, from the classic matte, to the more eye catching glossy finish, as well as everything else in between. To go along with the texture that you want, though, you need to consider what that means for the state of your lips. Matte can dry out your lips, and I've had some really glossy ones smear on everything.

This Winter, I think I may have just found my favourite new cool weather lippie - the Antipodes Natural Lipstick in Remarkably Red! This mostly matte with a hint of glossy finish lipstick, while named Remarkably Red, is really more of a berry red on me.

This is really a lot less bold than it sounds, and a bit of a grown up lipstick. I love that this doesn't slide everywhere each time I press my lips together, but that it doesn't dry out the skin either. To me, this almost has a balm like consistency, which means that my lips don't have to compromise on the finish over the texture. This also means that when the wind kicks up and the hair drags across the lips, I don't end up with obvious lipstick streaks on my face. Bonus!

I find this to last for a couple of hours without having a big meal or too many drinks. Sadly, this doesn't stain the lips. That's a good amount of wear time without flaking, which is a dreaded fear with every dark lippie application.

If, like me, you weren't aware of Antipodes having a lipstick line, then what are you waiting for? This will set you back by only $19.95 and you can find it, and other colours, at Priceline and David Jones.

What's your favourite Winter shade? Have you tried the Antipodes line of lipsticks?

  2. I haven't tried their line of lipstick but it does look very pretty. My fave winter lip that isn't drying is Revlon Ultra Matte lip colour in Addiction and it leaves an awesome stain on the lips.
