Review: Maybelline Moisturising Serum Matte Lipstick
It's time to kiss the end of this week goodbye! It's been an excellent one, with work going smoothly, and a little weekend getaway with a girlfriend - I honestly don't think I could have asked for a nicer set of seven days than the one I was just given! It has it's ups and downs, though, of course, because now, I'm going to have higher expectations for my time ahead, and I'm going to be very disappointed when it doesn't all go according to how it's been! Perhaps the way to look at it would be to appreciate the time that I did have and be grateful that sometimes, lovely things do happen to nice people?
However I frame it, overall, I'm grateful for the life that I have, and the experiences and things that I get to live through/with, and while it may seem small, a good lipstick is very much appreciated, and in this instance, the Maybelline Moisturising Serum Matte Lipstick is one of my newest discoveries from the brand, and it's good! The very first makeup product that I remember falling for was a lipstick, followed by eyeshadow, and I think it's because it's so transformative, with so little effort, especially when it comes to lippies.
Over the years, I've searched for certain textures, colours and durability, and it's been such a fun ride! Maybelline features high in the drugstore category for me, when it comes to lip colours, because they've managed to raise my expectations with their products, particularly when it comes to their Superstay range! The Moisturising Serum Matte Lipstick is currently available in eight shades, while the satin finish version comes in eight other colours, so if you're not into matte, but wanting to try them, all is not lost!
These tone enhancing shades aren't supposed to feather, and they are meant to wear comfortably all day, giving you up to eight hours of plumping moisture, and beautiful hydration. The range has been formulated with a blend of oils and hyaluronic acid, all packaged into the form of a bullet lipstick, making application on the go a breeze. I've been applying this to my lips straight from the lipstick without any issues, and I feel like it does hug the contours of my lips very well. Pictured is the colour 002 Maybe It's..., and honestly, maybe it's magical!
Application is a breeze - it just glides on, and I find that this doesn't bleed. The matte finish is exactly as advertised, but unlike lots of other matte lipsticks before it, it isn't drying. Instead, it's creamy enough that when I press my lips together, it seems to spread it over my lips again. Additionally, I do feel like this does sit on my lips really well, and that it doesn't wear off quickly, although you do have to reapply this throughout the day. I like that this is vegan, and that while you can get this full priced for about $23, Maybelline often goes on sale, so you can pick this up for cheaper at some point, if you were to search around prior to purchasing it. It's a lipstick that's worth trying! What's your favourite Maybelline lipstick?
