Review: Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay In Place Makeup

I can't believe that we only have one month of Autumn left! I mean, what the heck? How are we halfway through the year already? Not quite, really, but you know what I mean! Like, what's happening with everyone else? Between the world economy and cost of fuel at the moment, I know my mental health has been a little... iffy. That said, not all is lost, as there's still quite a lot of good in this world. For example, I've had the chance to drop off a few things in the street pantry recently, and a few of those items came from people who were happy to help contribute them to others in need. I think it's important that when you're despairing about the state of the world, you can still find the beauty in it about so many other things.

Speaking of finding the beauty in life, I've had the luck to try the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay In Place Makeup, which has recently revamped their formula, and you can honestly feel the difference. I will say that I've used a number of different Estee Lauder foundations over the years, including the previous incarnation of this, and I have to say, I've noticed a definite improvement on the formula! This foundation is meant to be great for long wear, apparently up to 36 hours, which is good news for someone like me, who has to work up to thirteen hours sometimes on really rough days, and it's also meant to withstand some tough, every day conditions.

This is said to be waterproof, as well as being heat, sweat and humidity proof. It's also supposed to give the skin colour-true coverage that lasts the whole time you're wearing it. It's a true if you know, you know situation - if you've never had to suffer through it, though, foundations sometimes can oxidize when exposed to the environment, which means, much like how rust is red, your base layer can change colour, getting darker over time, and this is meant to stay one consistent shade while you're wearing it. Additionally, this is supposed to lock hydration in, prevent shine and control oil production, so that your skin can look amazing at all times.

This comes in a frosted bottle with a screw cap, and this is perhaps the only thing that I don't love about this. The opening is simply... the whole thing. There isn't a rubber or plastic bit that narrows the opening down. Instead, you pour this out either on a sponge or the back of your hand before working it into the skin. However, it also means that the margin for error is slim, and if you were to drop the bottle with the cap off, or knock it over, it would make a dreadful mess, and I'm gonna be honest, it almost happened to me! I think a pump would be a better alternative, if possible!

Otherwise, however, I love that this does stay true to colour and doesn't seem to oxidise on the skin over time. If you're after a product that gives you medium to full coverage, which is buildable without resulting in any cakiness, then this should be up for consideration! It wears well throughout the day, and doesn't crease on the skin. It has something known as a 'Modern Matte' finish, which is actually a surprisingly fresh looking finish that doesn't give you that typical, flat, somewhat 2D finish that some matte foundations can give. I adore that this is light on my skin, and it feels comfortable at all times. It has a very second skin feel and look to it, and I absolutely love this! If you're curious, my shade is 2N1, and it retails for $83. What's your go to foundation finish?
