Review: Clinique Take The Day Off Foaming Mousse
Oh my goodness, where has the time gone? I can't believe that it's already the middle of the week, and that there's still so much more that I need to do. My mother and two aunts are visiting next week, and for anyone who might be wondering, as this is always the first question that anyone who speaks to me in person will ask, it's been about 18 years since my mother has come to Australia, so we're going to try and make this an awesome trip for her! I'm also a bit of a hoarder (eep), and my husband isn't, so he's desperately trying to stem the flow of things in the house, while I try to sit on my hands and not add to the pile.
Speaking of trying, I have been trying to work through a stash of skincare recently, and I dug out this little beauty, the Clinique Take The Day Off Foaming Mousse, which I didn't even realise I had, and I was so excited to find it in all of my stuff, I squealed. As a fan of the Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm by Clinique, I was interested to see if this would be an excellent accompaniment for the cleansing balm, and how well it would do on it's own to help remove the traces of the day. This is said to be nourishing, smoothing and hydrating - all of the qualities I could use this time of year.
Much like the Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm, this comes in purple packaging, namely a shiny tube with a flip lid, making it easy to get the cleanser out. When squeezed, this comes out as a soft, silky mousse that lathers up into a soft foam, making it absolutely divine to spread all over the face, letting me work it into the skin with ease. It's meant to be able to help remove makeup, excess oil, sunscreen, dirt and daily pollutants with ease.
Sadly, it doesn't stand up very well to eyeliners and mascaras, which means it can leave a bit of a streaky mess on the face if I don't use micellar water or a cleansing oil prior to using this. I love how this seems to leave my skin feeling soft, without drying it out, nor does it appear to be greasy, which the cleansing balm can occasionally do (but that makes sense). Given that this contains 10% glycerin, which is an excellent humectant and fantastic for keeping the skin hydrated, as well as hyaluronic acid, which is meant to help draw water into the skin, it's no wonder that my skin stays beautifully moisturised.
This is free of any animal derived ingredients, as well as being fragrance free and alcohol free. For a Clinique product, I don't feel like this is particularly expensive, sitting at $55 for 150ml of product. If you're sensitive to scents, this really doesn't have any fragrance to it, and I would recommend this for anyone who might be looking for a moisturising cleanser. This is suitable for all skin types. Does this sound like a cleanser you'd use?
