Review: LBDO Essensual Lube and Essensual Oil
While we're riding the wave (cresting the wave?), I want to stay on topic and talk about sex again. If it gets popular enough, perhaps I should start a monthly special and make it a regular thing - whaddya say? Let's not be distracted, however, because there's plenty of stuff to get through still! I have a confession to make, however, while we're just getting started - I meant to write these up a while back, but got snowed under with products that kept pushing their way to the front, and when I was doing my post on sexual health recently, I immediately thought of these guys, and wanted to make them a priority, so here we are!
Who is LBDO, and why should you be paying attention to the brand? The real question is - why shouldn't you be paying attention to the brand? Created by a Melbourne based babe who came up with LBDO during the pandemic, this brand strives to have inclusivity, pleasure, safety and design at the core of their ethos, which I absolutely love. After all, while the pursuit of pleasure should always be inclusive (even if it feels like you may be a little selfish from time to time with how much fun you're having - we all know it's about the give and take), safe and designed to work.
I was gifted the Essensual Lube and Essensual Oil, and given that I've actually be using these for a while now, I have plenty to say about them! The Essensual Oil is a good place to start, and I don't mean simply from a write up point of view, if you catch my drift. Touted as a 100% natural, versatile massage and body oil, this can be used to soften the skin, while also getting you slippery for the activities ahead. This has a slightly spicy scent to it, and while this is quite an oily oil, which makes it an excellent texture for massages, this does dry down quite nicely, reducing the likelihood of having your skin feel sticky as a result of it. This vegan product also contains a blend of kakadu plum seed oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil and sandalwood oil, so that it nourishes your skin, all while you're having fun - who doesn't love it when you can multitask?
The Essensual Lube is another fun product, in that this is a certified organic water based lubricant that has aloe vera, kakadu plum extract and quandong extract, making this high in antioxidants, vitamin C and vitamin E, which can be helpful in soothing a high friction area. Both latex and toy friendly, this is pH balanced, making it something that could be great for such a sensitive region. I love that this is slippery without feeling sticky, and that it doesn't feel like it wears off quickly. In short, it does the job well, and it comes in a bottle that is both easy to use, and visualise, so that you can tell when you're due to order another one, while also staying quite aesthetically pleasing.
These retail for $49.95 and $29.95 respectively, and I'm liking the body oil so much that I'm using it for functional, daily reasons too, rather than just for fun! Head their website to find out more about the brand, and while you're there, add a couple of things to the cart to try for yourself! Side note: Rachel, the brainy babe behind the brand, is someone I've had interactions with over the years, and she's always been lovely, so it's awesome to get the chance to try something new from a budding brand, and support an excellent business run by a woman! Do you have a go to brand for products like these, or are you keen to try new and different ones?
