New Release: Michael Kors Wonderlust Sublime EDP

The launch of a new perfume always sends me running to the perfume counters of the department stores - the chance to find that one holy grail scent holds such allure, the magnetic pull of the fragrance department is such that you cannot resist, but have to actually go with flow. And I have to say, it's one of my favourite first world problems!

September heralded the arrival of a brand new baby from Michael Kors, a follow up from their Wonderlust EDP - the Wonderlust Sublime. Just so you can have a bit of a feel for the newbie, I'll talk you through the notes for Wonderlust. This comprises of the following:

Top notes: Almond milk accord, Italian bergamot, Sicilian mandarin, Pink pepper
Mid notes: Dianthus, Jasmine grandiflorum absolute, Jasmine sambac absolute, Heliotrope
Dry notes: Sandalwood Sri Lanka, Cashmeran, Benzoin Siam

This retails for $125 for 50 ml, and $155 for 100 ml. This is a fierce blend of spicy and flowery notes, resulting in a burst of oriental floral excitement with each press of the pump. Originally released in 2016, this spicy sweet scent is encased in a clear bottle with a beautiful, shiny gold cap. This makes for a gorgeous day perfume that allows for daydreams and Summer plans. It's also one that I will be wearing regularly.

The new release to join the team this month is Wonderlust Sublime, and while this comes in a similar bottle, it is opaque, rather than clear. This, strangely enough, gives it a more luxurious feel, and for some reason, makes me think of Summer, which I feel is what they are trying to emulate. Anyway, I digress. The notes that are included in the scent are:

Top notes: Orange flower, Sicilian mandarin, Pink pepper, Cardamom, Cinnamon
Mid notes: Dianthus, Tiare flower from Tahiti, Jasmine grandiflorum
Dry notes: Amber, Sri Lankan sandalwood, Cashmeran, Tonka bean

This smells like a tropical holiday - it reminds me of days in Maui and sunsets by the beach. It invokes images of sun rays on the water and drinking from coconuts - all wonderfully restful and relaxing. They also picked the perfect face for their new campaign, the beautiful Gigi Hadid, who, even though she was doubtlessly working incredibly hard during the photoshoot, made it look like a breeze, like she was actually on holiday.

This retails for the same price as the original scent, and can be found in select Myer and David Jones stores. I've been playing with the bottles regularly from the get go, and I love how they catch the light - it's hypnotic, and it gets me daydreaming about my next holiday, and that's even before I catch of whiff of the scents!

Where's your dream holiday, and which Michael Kors scent do you have in rotation?
