Review: Alpha-H Firming Peptide Body Oil with Hexapeptide-8
Another glorious weekend has passed us by, and we're looking to start the new week with the right attitude! I know that just about everyone is feeling a bit of work fatigue, as we rush towards the end of the year, and we've all caught a lurgy of some description over the last couple of months, and we can't wait to hit the beach properly without fear of the weather turning on us. Not long until we get to Summer! As always, part of Summer means wearing less, and showing more skin, simply by virtue of being so hot, I personally cannot stand having my clothes stick to me.
This means that it's definitely more evident this time of year when I've missed a patch moisturising! Additionlly, this year was the first time I've ever had to combine a body oil with body lotion for a couple of weeks, because despite regular post shower oiling sessions (ie moisturising with body oil), I was finding that my skin was feeling tight and itchy. This meant that it was continuing to feel dry, inspite of all that I was already doing - how to people not moisturise on a daily basis?
The Alpha-H Firming Peptide Body Oil with Hexapeptide-8, in a nutshell, is designed to firm and hydrate the skin, and it's also began. This is a quick-dry body oil that's supposed to prevent the appearance of ageing and in turn, make the skin look firmer, as well as helping to deal with dryness, while also supporting collagen production and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The hero ingredient, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 is an oil-soluble peptide that's primarily responsible for helping to prevent and minimise the appearance of ageing, while sustainably harvested microalgae oil, which is steeped in micronutrients and Omega 9, is there to nourish, hydrate and help look after the skin's lipid barrier.
There's also macadamia oil, which is chock full of essential fatty acids to help nourish the skin, so that it can feel moisturised, smooth and soft. And of course this also has Vitamin E in, which is great for conditioning the skin, fighting free radicals, improving the appearance of UV-induced redness and defending the skin against environmental damage. For such a small bottle, this certainly does pack a bit of a punch! It's recommended that you use this with other products in the range, by starting your day withe the Alpha-H Daily Dose Multivitamin Body Serum each morning, then using the Alpha-H Retinol Reboot Exfoliating Body Treatment on three alternate nights a week (like Mon/Wed/Fri) to deal with rough or ageing areas, such as the neck and decolletage, then filling in the nights with the Firming Peptide Body Oil.
This comes in a 100ml translucent bottle with a green screw cap, and it retails for $49.95. I love that this seems to hold a faint, almost chocolatey scent, and that the little opening at the top allows the user to pour out a decent amount without spilling it everywhere. It starts off feeling a little oily, then sinks into the skin, drying down without feeling like a dry oil. I love this on it's own as a body oil, and I wish they sold this in a larger bottle! It can be found where Alpha-H is sold, including Mecca and Adore Beauty. What's your favourite thing from Alpha-H?
