Review: MooGoo Natural Scalp Friendly Shampoo and Conditioner
It's always nice to talk about brands that I like and it surprises me, sometimes, that there are brands that I've had some really positive feelings about that I actually haven't done a review on. In real life, and on the blog, I'm all about credit where credit is due, which, admittedly, doesn't make me very popular when I have to give feedback to people on their work, but I also think lying to people about their quality of work, or not telling the truth about products on my platform, would be doing the general public absolutely not favours. So, when I tell you that it's great, I'm being honest about it being great on my skin, and when I say it's not to my taste, then that's exactly what I mean.
When it comes to MooGoo, I can say that I have enjoyed using their cream, and that with this being my first foray into their haircare range, I went into it without any preconceived notions. I wanted to get a proper idea of what the duo would be like without having it influenced by anything I could read online. The MooGoo Natural Scalp Friendly Shampoo and Conditioner are always available in 3 different sizes - 500 ml, 1 l and 2.5 l, as well as a little 100 ml bottle in their travel pack.
The first thing that struck me was the scent of this when I started using it - it has a very heavy baby powder fragrance to it that's not unpleasant, but also not quite what I was initially expecting. I found the pump on my 1 l bottle quite effective at getting the product out, and for a natural product, this foams nicely. I also like that I don't find this to strip my hair of colour quickly, which I appreciate. Formualted with coconut and glucose based cleanser, this also has milk protein to help protect hair fibres, as well as piroctone olamine to assist in maintaining and controlling the microflora of the scalp.
The conditioner comes similarly packaged, except that the lettering is blue for the shampoo and green for the conditioner, making it an easy distinction. Unlike the shampoo, this has more of a coconut scent to it, which is somewhat confusing, as the shampoo contains coconut, while the conditioner does not. Instead, this has jojoba oil and olive oil to help keep the hair hydrated. Otherwise, it has similar ingredients to what's found in the shampoo, and has a creamier, thicker texture than that of the shampoo.
Both products are silicone free, and I can definitely tell, because silicone does weight my hair down, and with this duo, my hair has been full of body, and there is movement and texture to it, making my hair look multidimensional with the waves and bounce. While I do find that my air can be soft with using the shampoo and conditioner, I also feel like it doesn't moisturise the hair as intensely as I'd like for it to given that I've bleached and coloured my hair quite extensively, and it needs plenty of moisture to prevent it from drying out and feeling straw-like. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to infuse my strands with as much moisture as I'd like for it, but the body more than makes up for it!
