Review: Medik8 Smooth Body Exfoliating Kit

If there is one brand that continues to take my breath away when it comes to cosmeceuticals and skincare that simply works, it absolutely is Medik8. I could prattle on and on about them until day turns into night into day into night, but I won't. Instead, I'll talk to you about the latest thing from them that I'm loving, and for once, it's not something for my face - it's for my body!

The Smooth Body Exfoliating Kit™ is great for the babes who are looking to improve the texture of their skin, as it utilises a 3-step retexturising AHA and BHA system to smooth over rough, dry or bumpy skin. The skin includes a trio of goodies -  a scrub, a mitt and a lotion, and these work together in a synergistic way to reduce the appearance and feel of a skin condition called keratosis pilaris, as well as other issues like ingrown hairs, uneven fake tan and very dry skin.

Get started using the Smooth Body Scrub, which is a rich, moringa butter-infused formula. Before you hop into the shower. massage it into the skin in circular motions, and leave it on for 5 minutes prior to washing it off. There are bamboo particles and natural pumice as physical exfoliants, while high strength lactic acid works as a chemical exfoliant, breaking down the bonds between skin cells, setting off cellular renewal for fresh skin. Aim for 2 - 3 uses a week.

The Smooth Body Mitt is double-sided and removes dry flaky skin while gently unblocking hair follicles. This can be used on it's own, wet or dry, or for a more intense feel, this can be combined with the Smooth Body Scrub. To finish, use the Smooth Body Lotion, which contains high strength lactic acid. urea and salicyclic acid to loosen pore blockages. To add moisture and to battle free radicals, the Smooth Body Lotion is filled with shea butter, moringa butter and multi-weight hyaluronic acid. Squalene also adds to the moisture, but more importantly, it also helps in strengthening the skin barrier.

The products both come in white, flip lid tubes, and the directions are easy to follow. There is some tingling when using both of them, and I have to say, the mitt/scrub combination isn't for the faint of heart - if you're new to the lactic acid world, you can want to consider using the scrub on it's own, or the mitt on it's own. The hardest part of this is waiting the five minutes after using the scrub, but view it as an opportunity to get comfortable in your own skin (literally), and doing a dance while you're naked is good for your soul, not to mention busting those calories!

Does it work? Does it EVER! It has certainly improved the texture of my skin! For those battling rough patches, bumpy skin and scaly bits, $99 feels like a reasonable amount to counteract those annoyances. Find more information on it over here. What pesky body skin issues are you facing?
