Review: Rimmel Super Gel Nail Polish *
Rimmel needs no introduction, and given how well they did with new products in 2015, you just know that 2016 is going to be a bigger and better one for them, although I don't know how they are going to top it!
Actually, I do, because this is a prime example of it! Even though it was released in 2015, it was late enough in the year to count it as 2016, so I'm just going to roll with that. The Rimmel Super Gel lamp free system is one of the newer ones to hit the market, following in the foot steps of other drugstore brands.
This two step system is quick and easy - all you have to do is go over the nails with two coats of the colour without a base coat, then finish it off with the top coat. This is meant to last up to 14 days, but I only had it on for 3 chip free days before I took it off.

Please excuse the scary looking cuticles! Soul Session is a gorgeous nude shade that is great for a barely there beautiful set of nails. I can see myself getting a lot of use out of this one! I found the formula to be relatively smooth, although one nail did get a little bubbly, but I shook the bottle before I went over the nails, so it could have been that.
You can pick from a total of 14 shades and there are some limited edition duos, which retail for $14.95. Each bottle is $9.95 otherwise and you can get them from Target, Kmart and Big W.
Have you seen this collection? Will you be getting anything from it?
* These products were provided for my consideration, but my opinions, as always, are my own
I love nude nail shades. I bought the red kit and I'm actually a bit disappointed. The colour is gorgeous but the finish wasn't very 'gel like' even with their top coat. I also didn't like waiting for the polish to dry as I usually use a quick dry top coat. And the 14 day wear time is a stretch.

I was glad that I got at least 3 days out of it - I find double coating the top coat makes a difference. It's a shame you weren't impressed by it!
DeleteWho has time to wait for two sets of top coats to dry?!?! Hahaha =P
DeleteI've read very mixed reviews on this. A few people have said it can get a bit bubbly.
ReplyDeleteI think shaking it can certainly make it worse.
DeleteI really wanted to try this but was disappointed that the duos were all really boring colours and given how much nail polish I own I couldn't justify buying even more at full price! :D (BTW, Priceline is stocking it too, at least here in SA).
ReplyDeleteOoh, you're absolutely right. It's definitely in Priceline!
DeleteYES to that nude colour for sure!!! I love it!

Really coming around to nude shades!
DeleteSoul Session seems like such a versatile shade that could be worn year round!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way!
DeleteAhhh I love the shade you received! I also received this kit from Rimmel but got a red shade! (Hey I'm not complaining haha) I haven't tried it yet though! xx

I have that red too, and it's really, really pretty on!
DeleteChemist warehouse have them 50% off at the moment so they come down to $4.95 each :)
ReplyDeleteNice! That's a bit of a bargain!
DeleteThat is a really pretty nude! Gorgeous! Personally I haven't had rave worthy results from any at home gel polishes, I'd be stoked with three days chip free! :)
ReplyDeleteI've had a pretty good run with them. It's certainly not 14 days, though!
DeleteHow do you remove it? Like normal polish? Or like UV lamp gel polish where you have to buff the top and then soak for 10-15mins in acetone?
ReplyDeleteComes off with normal nail polish remover 💅😊
DeleteVery easily, I might add!
DeleteI bought this polish in purple the other day and I absolutely love it!
ReplyDeleteI've been a nail polish enthusiast in the past but any type of polish I would use would start coming off after a day or two and it would annoy me so much I'd just end up taking everything off!
After not having been allowed to wear nail polish because of work for the last couple of years and recently changing jobs I've been getting really interested in polish again, wanting something that would last and not knowing much about different brands I thought this one would be a safe bet.
I've read mixed reviews about this polish but my nails ended up looking lovely and shiny, no cracks or bubbles or anything. I've had it on for about week and a half now and it's only now starting to wear a bit around the edge of my nail, all in all I'm super pleased!
That's such a lovely thing to hear! I'm glad it's not just me!
