Review: Ikou Organic Massage and Body Oil White Flannel Flower

As this post is being published, I'd like to gently remind you that rather than being in Australia, working really hard right now, I'm actually, in fact, lazing around in my over water villa in the Maldives, just chilling out and taking the time to read a book, before heading into the water for a swim with some fishies. I'm beyond excited to be somewhere new, and thrilled to be having a breather from work! I believe in working super duper hard, and playing just as much. I also believe that my skincare should work just as hard as I do, and I love it when it does a good job of making my skin shine it's best.

It does seem appropriate to be talking about the Ikou Organic Massage and Body Oil White Flannel Flower today, while I'm soaking up some goodness and some sun, and in need of a bit of end of day care for my skin, to help replenish what has been lost. This is marketed as a 'luxurious bath and body oil infused with the divine scent of exotic tropical florals and enriched with natural and organic oils' - a line on Adore Beauty that got me to click add to cart faster than I could blink! I really liked the sound of a mindful tropical escape for when I was putting my body oil at the end of a long day, and that really sold it to me.

This comes in a clear plastic bottle with a screw cap, and while I thought it was actually quite tricky to tap the oil out of it to begin with, once I got the angle of tapping it out right, I found it to flow smoothly. This is a very rich body oil that is quite thick, and it makes sense, given the key ingredients that it's comprised of. This contains organic coconut oil, organic camellia oil, cherry kernel oil, organic cotton seed oil and organic rice bran oil. These are blended beautifully with some stunning essential oils - pink grapefuit, tangerine, ylang ylang, cananga flower and neroli.

What these create when mixed together is an absolutely delicious and stunning body oil that is a treat for the senses. This starts off with a mild citrusy scent that develops into a warm, creamy floral fragrance that makes you feel like you're heading into warmer days and sunnier months, even though it's the opposite of what's happening to us in Australia at this point. In other words, it's a little slice of escapism for me when I could use a break, mentally - a side of aromatherapy with my body care, and it can help me relax when I'm feeling overwhelmed.

This oil is quite rich and smooth, and while it's a really oily oil, if you were to use this sparingly, where a little goes a long way, this does a great job of moisturising the skin without making it feel like you're swimming through an oil slick. I find that about a minute after application, I can safely put my clothes on without having it stick to me. This is designed to be used either as a body oil or a bath oil, but my preference is for it as a body oil - I feel like I can make it go a little further this way. This retails for about $47 for 130 ml of product. What kind of scent do you prefer for your body oil?
