Review: Summer Fridays Jet Lag Skin Soothing Hydration Mist
Having just gotten back from a little jaunt overseas (because New Zealand definitely counts as overseas, even if the flight usually ranges from 3 hours to 3 and a half hours), I have felt my skin feeling tighter and drier than usual. I most definitely felt it when I had to come back from a really early morning flight, and I was exhausted, and my eyeballs felt all gritty, like they were filled with sand. This was on the back of my outgoing flight, where it was delayed for a couple of hours, which meant that I got in really late at night, which just meant really early in the morning. It was then that I was really wishing I'd packed a hydrating mist, especially given my recent discovery of the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Skin Soothing Hydration Mist!
This is a cruelty free, vegan, plumping, hydrating, nourishing and soothing facial mist that delivers a refreshing spritz each and every time. This is soothing, and it also promises to replenish and calm the skin, giving it a protective moisture barrier support, so that your skin can continue to glow and stay moisturised. While this may look like a tiny little bottle, it really does pack a punch, and I honestly feel like this does deserve the $36 price tag for 50 ml of product.
This has some tasty ingredients to help lock in all that moisture, and glycerin is a great start, as this can help attract moisture, providing some relief and keeping the skin soft. It also has a skin soothing complex, which is made up of a plethora of ingredients, like aloe extract, bisabolol, centella asiatica extract, allantoin, cucumber exgtract and panthenol, all working in synergy to soothe, calm and comfort the skin. This contains something called Skin Barrier Support Complex, which is comprised of ceramide NP and squalene, and meant to help protect the skin barrier, and enhance it.
Additionally, there's a mineral complex, made up of copper gluconate, magnesium aspartate and zinc gluconate, and these work together to rejuvenate the skin, while also supporting the skin function and protecting it against the environmental aggressors. There's also an antioxidant complex, a combination of green tea extract and vitamin E, and this can help protect the skin against damage caused by free radicals. Last but not least, there's also ectoin, which is an amino acid derivative that's supposed to help support and maintain the water balance in skin, while protecting it against dehydration.
Now that you've gotten to the end of that list, you can see why I said that it packs a punch! To use this, simply shake it up before giving your skin a spray about 30 cm away from the skin. I love using this as a skin prep step, between my skincare and makeup routines, and also as a pick me up for when my skin is feeling a little dry, and needing a bit of love. While I know that this may not be the most important product in my artillery of goodies, I do think that this adds a little layer of something extra that my skin appreciates. What's the last non-essential, but highly recommended, product that you added to your rotation?
