Review: Raaie Morning Dew Vitamin C Serum
You know that feeling when you realise that new things have appeared in the skincare/cosmetic space, and you're just finding out about it now? That's the feeling that I had when I found out about Raaie, all questions and no answers - like, when did it come to Australia? How long has it been here? Where has it been all my life? What's the magic behind the brand? And if you haven't gathered by now, I'm deeply in love with Raaie, and I can't wait to tell you all about it!
First things first, because if you're like me, you might have the same questions. Raaie, which is pronounced as Ray, and comes from both Ra, the ancient Egyptian Sun God, and Ra, which means ray of light in Te Reo Maori, is a New Zealand brand that feels as luxe as it looks. The name is a play on our skin's conflicting relationship with the sun, where we appreciate it for the warmth and life-giving abilities, because we all need a bit of sun to flourish. Yet, the sun can also be very damaging, with it's harmful UV rays, showing us that balance is necessary, and that we can embrace it's benefits, while still trying to stay protected from the dangers.
Thus, their philosophy is all about keeping the skin shielded against sun damage, because we cannot avoid the sun and all the good that comes with it, while also repairing signs of aging, like hyperpigmentation and wrinkles, as we also cannot eschew all the bad that comes with it. And of course, their Morning Dew Vitamin C Serum brilliantly encapsulates their ethos, and it's a great way to kickstart our journey into the brand. This serum has been one of my favourite new products that I've tried for a while, and a part of that may be due to how luxurious the packaging is, or it may be down to the fact that this serum seems to work really well on my skin!
Their packaging is unlike any I've seen before - they are glass vessels, but resemble stone, and they've been designed to feel like sacred objects, made to be cherished and refilled, rather than discarded. This is said to be a brightening serum that's rich in antioxidants, and it's meant to also boost collagen production, while soothing redness and targeting pigmentation. It's also supposed to even skin tone, and that's primarily because the formula contains 15% Vitamin C and powerful New Zealand botanicals, which thrive in some of the harshest UV conditions on Earth. This also has two types of hyaluronic acid, ferulic acid and Vitamin E.
