Review: Clinique Even Better Light Reflecting Primer
I can remember when I was first introduced to Clinique by my sister. It was around the time that she'd discovered luxury skincare brands, and was upgrading from names like Biore and the abrasive St Ives Apricot scrub to something a little more grown up and fancy. She was using their three step skincare programme, and I remember thinking how cool it looked that she was doing this, finishing with their Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion. Fast forward to now, and it's been so lovely watching Clinique churn out cult products and scents over time, not to mention, one of my favourite new primers (spoiler!).
The Clinique Even Better Light Reflecting Primer caught my eye on a recent browse through the Adore Beauty website, with their holographic, very shiny packaging. I don't get called a magpie for no reason! I'd already added it to my cart before I even realised what the purpose of it was! Boasting the ability to help hydrate the skin, while boosting your makeup, this is meant to brighten the skin and improve it not just from the moment you slather this on your face, but also over time. This is said to hold 20 billion prismatic illuminators in every tube (perhaps half that in a 15ml tube?) to help visibly smooth and brighten skin.
Through the inclusion of hyaluronic acid, this helps to attract and hold water molecules, resulting in plumper, smoother skin. It also has acetyl glucosamine, which can help stimulate hyaluronic acid production, as well as promote cell turn over. With the addition of Vitamin C, the skin can look it's most radiant, glowing through the day. I purchased the smaller tube to give a try, and I'm glad I did, because this stuff is amazing on me!
Aside from the super shiny packaging, this has a screw cap that isn't particularly small, which means you won't be able to lose it easily. To get this out, there is a tapered spout that makes it easy to titrate the necessary amount for your skin. This comes out with a peachy tint, and it spreads smoothly over the skin. This gives my skin a little pick me up immediately, and if I'm having a really lazy girl day, where I don't want to put much on my face, but still have to leave the house, this is what I've applying to my skin before popping on a cream or liquid blush/highlighter hybrid for a bit of colour.
Honestly, I've tried a variety of products from Clinique over the years, and nothing has quite tickled my fancy like this has. A quick pick me up, going from dull to wow in seconds, and something that also had long term benefits? This is everything I was hoping it would be, and I couldn't be more pleased. This retails for $63 for the full sized version, and $33 if you're after the 15 ml tube. It's currently available at a variety of retailers, such department stores and online at Mecca and Adore Beauty. What is on your favourite glowy skin primer?
