Review: BYOMA Moisturising Rich Cream

While one of my favourite things about blogging has to be trying out a new brand, coming in as a very close second has to be trying new things from a brand that I like. I was previously introduced to the brand BYOMA by the website, Cult Beauty, about two years ago, where I was pleasantly surprised by their Moisturising Gel Cream, which you can read all about over here. I found their price range to be very reasonable, particularly given how nicely the product performed on me. If you're looking to purchase something from them, expect to fork over between $20 to $35 at a push, which means you're not breaking the bank for something that can potentially be quite helpful for your skin.

BYOMA's main focus is on the skin barrier - repairing, maintaining and restoring the structure and barrier function, so that you can keep having smooth and beautiful skin. Rather than looking at slowing down the ageing process, it looks at enhancing what you already have, and boosting it. The BYOMA Moisturising Rich Cream contains their patented Tri-Ceramide Complex, comprised of ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids), as well as bakuchiol and shea extracts, all so they can help protect the moisture barrier, which no only nourishes it, it also prevents moisture loss, therefore keeping the skin better hydrated for longer.

Let's break down the key ingredients in this a little bit, so we can see why this should work the way it does. Bakuchiol is considered to the vegan alternative to retinol, and it has multiple properties that can help you achieve happier skin. This can help settle redness and inflammation, as well as reduce irritation. It's also meant to decrease the production of melanin, and therefore brighten the skin tone, as well as reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by helping to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. The Tri-Ceramide Complex, in a nutshell, is meant to mimic and replenish the essential lipids naturally found in skin, and the shea extract is there to help nourish and condition the skin, keeping it soft.

This comes in a pastel blue bottle that is what I would best describe as short and stout, as well as cheery and cute. The pump, while sturdy, only dispenses a small blob of moisturiser each time, which makes me push down on that pump about five times to get the right amount that I want. Despite having the word rich in it's name, it actually isn't sticky or thick, or feels particularly rich on the skin. Instead, this has a medium consistency, and it's easy to smooth over the skin. It gets absorbed relatively quickly and easily, and I love that this doesn't leave my skin feeling suffocated by the cream.

Rather, my skin feels smooth and comfortable as a result of using this, and I love that this moisturises my skin really well, without leaving it greasy. It layers with other products nicely, without reacting with anything else. I don't find this to have an obvious scent, so for those who may be sensitive to that, this may be a good bet for you. This retails for just under $30, and you can find it over here on Cult Beauty. While it won't take the world by storm, it certainly can be a great adjunctive product to add to your usual rotation of products to help maintain the integrity of your skin barrier. What have you tried from Byoma?
