Review: Rimmel Magnf'eyes Eye Contouring Palette

I think that by now, most people are aware that I'm OBSESSED with eyeshadow palettes! That, and that I'm a big fan of Rimmel makeup, being that it's crazy affordable and also of decent quality - it's no wonder that I'm all over their latest release - Magnif'Eyes Eye Contouring Palette!

This comes in two varieties - Grunge Glamour, pictured here, and Keep Calm & Wear Gold, which is perfect for the super warm months coming up!

Each of them come in a black plastic case with a mirror, and a clear window to show you the colours contained within. They hold 8 shades each, and they vary from mostly shimmering to a matte shade, which is a bit of a shame, because I would have preferred a couple more mattes for additional dimension. Having no brow bone to speak of, I need a few mattes to add more oomph, annoyingly!

These go on easily, particularly with an eyeshadow primer, which I tend to use all the time anyway. One of my friends used it without an eyeshadow primer, and she felt that it wasn't as pigmented as she'd have liked. With the primer, it's certainly better, so I'd recommend having that beneath your eyeshadow. I haven't noticed a lot of fallout with them, which is means less of a mess for me, so that's definitely winning!

I love that this particular palette gives me the option for a bit of a day to night transition. I've been using this for my everyday work face, then adding the colours on the right hand side for a bit of dark smokey eyes for the evening before heading out from work.

These palettes retail for $19.95 each, and can be found wherever Rimmel is stocked, including Priceline, Target, Kmart and Big W.

What do you think of their latest release? What's your favourite type of product from Rimmel?

  1. I like the pigmentation on the darker shades but the light ones don't show up that much. I need to give it more of a go though!

  3. I tried the third shade from the right and it was so lovely on its own! You're right though, you've got to use an eyeshadow primer its better with it on :)
