Review: Florence by Mills Butter Creme Super Balm in Watermelon Sherbet

You know what's a really good word? Sherbet. I don't think there's actually a way to say that without sounding British, is there? Plus, it's one of those words where the more to say it, or the more you spell, the less right it sounds and looks. Like, how many rs are there in it, exactly? And also, is it like an ice cream adjacent cold dessert, or are we talking about a type of candy, like Wizz Fizz, where it's a type of effervescemt, fizzy powder that's sweet? For those who need a comparison, pixy stix are similar, but less fizzy. Anyway, all this is to say that I was heavily influenced by the word sherbet alone, just to purchase the Florence by Mills Butter Creme Super Balm in Watermelon Sherbet!

So, I would like to say that I was very restrained when I was in Europe this year. I was very aware of how much I had when it came to luggage space, and I really wanted to make a big purchase at the end of the trip, which meant that any buys along the way had to be small. And what could possibly be smaller than a lip balm? I stumbled across a very well known makeup store called Douglas, akin to our Mecca, or Sephora, on my second day in the Netherlands, and I was so excited to start touching, sniffing, applying and generally just cosying up to products that I didn't recognise, and really wanted to get to know better! Also, in case you're curious, that big purchase was one I made at the end of my trip, also at Douglas, and it was an advent calendar!

Among them was the Florence by Mills Butter Creme Super Balm. I did see it in a small range of flavours, and simply couldn't go past Watermelon Sherbert. This is a vegan, cruelty free tinted balm, and it's said to help improve the lip barrier in about 15 minutes, as well as immediately increase hydration markedly. The formula is supposed to have a soft cream texture, giving your lips the frosting-like icing on the cake, so that you can pucker up comfortably.

Florence by Mills is a brand created by Millie Bobby Brown - yes, that Millie Bobby Brown! Actress and film producer, most  famously known as Eleven in Stranger Things, and I have to say, for my first introduction to the brand, I was impressed! At first glance, it's cute and light and fluffy - the tube is very typical of a balm, with a slanted applicator that has a hole in the middle for getting the product out. This has a slightly sweet scent to it, and the texture, while initially feeling thick, thins out when applied, and it really does help my lips feel moisturised.

This is a non-sticky formula, and I like that it gives my lips a light wash of colour, and some shine - like a bit of no makeup makeup almost, you know?  It's very comfortable on the lips, and in terms of wear time, I did catch sight of my lips an hour or so after my initial application, and I could still see a bit of it on the lips. It is a little on the pricey side for a coloured balm, sitting at around $25, but it's actually an excellent balm, and one I'll be wearing at work regularly! What's your go to coloured balm?
