Review: The Naxos Apothecary Sanudo Body Oil

Welcome to Winter, babes! It's about this time when my skin gets shrivelling, and there's always that one little patch of annoying skin that keeps cropping up, all dry and flaky. Ask me again when Winter isn't my favourite time of the year! I recognise that it's not all bad, but it's also definitely not all good. Sure, you've got Winter fashion - cosy knits, oversized sweaters and smart knee high leather boots are factor in, but when you're constantly battling damp laundry without a dryer, while dealing with dry, cracked skin on your hands, it does make you feel a little less generous towards the weather!

At least there's a good fix for most skin ailments that I face in the Winter these days! One of my new fixes (or should I say, fixations?) has to be from Naxos Apothecary, a brand that may seem familiar to long time readers of the blog, because I did a write up on one of their hand creams a while back, when a friend gifted me a hand cream from Greece. You can find that post over here. Thankfully, we no longer need to travel that far afield to shop, and if you're after an olfactory reminder of how magical your time in Greece was, it now takes a matter of seconds to find it online.

Mecca now carries some of the range. both instore and online, and I'm very grateful that aside from their stunning hand creams, they also have their insanely gorgeous body oils! My only complaint? The fact that their range is smaller than I'd prefer, but this is what I'd call a good start, and at least they have gone for more than just the body care items, and have included home scents and perfumes into what they stock! For those who aren't aware, The Naxos Apothecary was developed by the same person who created Korres, and honestly, it shows, in the best way! I've been trying out their Sanudo Body Oil, after doing a major sniff test in store.

These comes in a slim, plastic amber bottle and a heavy, metal screw cap. It has a mix of both luxe and functional, and I don't hate it - in fact, I quite like the juxtaposition. The scent notes are woody and spicy, and it's apparent from the get go. It starts off with top notes of incense, green pepper and cumin, which gives it a bit of spicy aroma. This is followed by chamomile, clove and nutmeg, of which, the clove stands out most for me. It then rounds off with ambergris, vetiver, gaiacwood and musk, which are the notes that give it that woody finish.

This has been formulated with Naxian Hypericum Perforatum Oil, otherwise known as St John's Wart. It is also comprised of a blend of apricot kernel oil, sweet almond oil, macadamia see oil, jojoba seed oil, shea butter, sunflower seed oil and olive fruit oil, among others. It is a rich, beautiful oil, where a little definitely goes a long way, and you don't need much to moisturise the skin. It feels nourishing and while relatively runny, this does feel very rich on my skin. It's a delight for the senses, and for $51, the 250ml will last you a while, particularly if you're using it sparingly, which you can. Have you tried anything from The Naxos Apothecary?
