Review: Alpha-H Illuminating Enzyme Polish with Native Rosella Flower
Part of Winter is dealing with dull skin, but it doesn't have to be that way. Through changing up my skincare routine, and tackling the tricky bits with the right solution, I've come to shield my skin a lot better now than I used to when I was younger. For example, it's definitely essential for me to have an excellent face oil this time of year, because my skin gets really dry. Similarly, I find that my skin can really benefit from having a great exfoliant, because it helps to deal with getting rid of dead skin cells, allowing fresh skin to come through, and aiding in the absorption of other products by clearing the path.
Is it just me, or has Alpha-H been churning out some amazing products recently? Just when I realised I was in need of a new exfoliating scrub for my skincare routine, I was sent the Alpha-H Illuminating Enyzme Polish, and boy, is it a good one! The Illuminating Enzyme Polish is designed to work for all skin types, including sensitive and menopausal skin. This comes in a tall, white cylindrical tube that has a wide opening at the top, once you unscrew the cap, so that you'd be able to get the product out without too much of a struggle, which is a good design, as the product comes in the form of a powder.
Given that it comes as a powder, it means that this is activated by water, so to use it, all you have to do is tap a small amount into the palm of your hand, then add a little bit of water. You can, of course, do it the other way around, but I prefer to use it this way, as I feel like this mixes better. I use about a 20 cent sized piece, and it mixes really nicely, turning a reddish brown when the water hits, releasing a scent that I can only really describe as that akin to the sweets, fruit tingle or fruit punch, which makes sense, as it's said to have a subtle berry fragrance.
Created to have enhanced enzymatic exfoliation for maximum efficacy with minimal irritation, as well as target dullness, texture, visible pores and congestion, this is meant to leave the skin with refreshed and smooth skin. This vegan polish utilises kaolin clay to help purify, cleanse and detoxify and decongest the skin while removing excess oil. It also has rice powder in it to gently polish the skin for soft physical exfoliation. Colloidal oatmeal is included for it's moisture-binding and antioxidant properties, to help soothe and calm the skin, while protecting the skin barrier, and reducing inflammation and irritation.
The big guns in this would be the multi-enzyme complex, comprised of a blend of protease and lipase enymes, to work their enhanced enzymatic exfoliation, lifting dead skin cells, dissolving sebum to gt rid of excess oil, sweat, dirt and makeup residue. Last but not least, there's native rosella flower, which is steeped in antioxidants, while also helping to hydrate the skin and protect it against environmental stressors. I love that nothing about this is even a little bit abrasive. Instead it's gentle, and soft on my skin, and I don't feel like I'm flaying my skin when using this. I absolutely love it, and my tip is to go around the nose to help the pores feel smoother and be less congested. For $64.95, you'll get 50 g of product, and it's available where Alpha-H can be found, including Sephora, Mecca and Adore Beauty. This is something that you'd incorporate into your routine?
