Review: DermaVeen Hair + Scalp Deep Cleanse Shampoo and Conditioner

Welcome to some of the itchiest months of the year! It varies a little for me, as someone who gets the occasional bit of eczema - Spring can be one of the most unpleasant time, with things blooming and everything else coming back to life, including the inflammation on my skin. That said, when my skin is exposed to colder and drier conditions, I know that it can be prone to things like flaky, dry patches, including where you wouldn't want it the most, because you can see it so much more noticeably then, and that's the scalp.

Hands up if you get an itchy scalp over Winter! I know I do, and this time, I think I may have found a new shampoo and conditioner duo to combat the unpleasantness that accompanies the cooler temperatures, gusts of cold winds and the use of bar heaters, otherwise also known as dry, itchy scalp. DermaVeen is well known as a skincare brand that specialises in dry. sensitive and eczema-prone skin, where the range is formulated with 100% natural ingredient, OatActiv+, which is mean to hydrate, soothe and protect the skin. They also have witch hazel in it.

They have now developed the DermaVeen Hair + Scalp Deep Cleanse Shampoo and Conditioner, and super spoiler alert, I am head over heels in love with this duo! I didn't expect to fall so hard, but this is seriously one of my favourite new drugstore shampoo and conditioner sets! The shampoo is meant to clarify and remove build up and heavy residue, so that your hair can shine like it should. It's also supposed to deeply cleanse the hair, and help keep an oily scalp balanced. To use this, shampoo like you normally would, but make sure that you leave it for two to three minutes before rinsing it out.

The conditioner is formulated to improve shine and texture, while also being suitable for daily use. Much like the shampoo, you're meant to leave it on for two to three minutes before rinsing it out. They both come in 500ml bottles that will seem somewhat familiar to someone who uses DermaVeen regularly, with the white background and the green and gold symbol on the front of it. It's a simple, but effective design, with lids that you have to push down and pop open on the other side to get the product out.

The shampoo is quite creamy, and doesn't feel like it's stripping my hair of oils. Strangely enough, it actually does leave my hair feeling really soft and a little slippery, and that's even before the conditioner. The conditioner coats the strands of my hair really nicely, without sliding off onto the floor of the shower, and it leaves me my tresses feeling incredibly soft with a bit of volume still. Even better, it definitely also soothes my scalp, meaning that the dry conditions of Winter will be no match for this new duo! It's an unbelievably delicious treat for my hair and scalp and worth the money. Also, while these retail for $23 each, they can be found at a number of different retailers, which means that you can almost always catch it on sale somewhere! I love, love, love them, and I would totally get these all over again! What's your secret for keeping your scalp happy?
