Review: Maybelline Dream Wonder Foundation *

Hello beauties! There is often nothing that makes my heart beat quite as fast as the following terms: sale, limited edition and new to beauty. Therefore, you can imagine how I felt when I realised that I was one of the lucky ones picked to trial the new Maybelline Dream Wonder foundation.

This particular foundation comes in a 20 ml bottle with the oddest applicator, but I'll get into that a little bit later. The shade I received was the absolute best match for me (80 Medium Buff, if you're curious), and the formula is so light and fluid that blending is ridiculously easy for me!

Don't be fooled by the size of the bottle. It may seem little, but you don't really need very much at all.

I place a few drops of the foundation from the tear drop applicator onto my fingertips, then I blend, blend and blend. It sinks into the skin, resulting in a soft velvety glowing finish. Make sure you shake it up first before applying it!

The applicator is my least favourite part of this. First off, you need to unscrew the cap, take out th applicator and shake a few drops onto your fingers. It can be quite fiddly, particularly with a glass bottle! This also means that you end up putting an applicator back into the bottle that might have touched bits of you - not as hygienic as a pump.

You also end up getting bits of foundation outside the bottle, due to applying the base with your fingers, which wouldn't usually be an issue, except that you need to put the applicator back in and screw the top back on. This can sometimes be quite a slippery exercise, and I have almost dropped my bottle on the ground before!

That said, there are a lot of pros to this particular foundation. You can build this up, but one layer is more than enough for me. This also contains SPF 20, which makes it a little better than some of my other foundations.

What I can't get enough off is the formula. It really is like nothing I've ever tried before, and is even lighter than some of my facial lotions. It honestly is almost like not wearing any base on the skin.

Overall, I find this to be an amazing foundation, being that it's light and thin, which means that it doesn't get cakey, but I'm not a huge fan of the bottle.

Have you tried this yet? Would you be interested in using that applicator?

  1. Everything about this sounds so unique! From the applicator to the formula. I'm trying to finish up some of my BB creams but definitely keeping this on my list of items to try.
