Review: Some by Mi Lacto Soy Sebum and Blackhead Cleansing Oil
Sundays are for sleeping in, brunch with the girls and bubble baths to soak your weary bones in, so that you can emerge refreshed, renewed and ready to tackle whatever comes your way that week! I hope everyone had a lovely All Hallows' Eve, and whether you had a party, went for some drinks with mates, or took little ones out to for trick or treating, or, stayed in doing a horror movie marathon on your lonesome, like me, I hope your Saturday was a delight! And I also hope that when you got back from your outing, you took off all of your makeup and went to bed with clean skin!
I mean, I love marinating in my skincare on my days off, and everyone knows this, but I don't think I've emphasized for a while now how great it is to marinate in clean skin. While I believe that there aren't that many rules when it comes to skincare and makeup, in that you can pretty much go rogue and do things in a different order, or use an eyeshadow brush to apply highlighter on your cheek bones, I do go to great lengths to adhere to a few things, such as making sure that I always go to bed without my makeup on, and I must always wear sunscreen when I head out of the house. Otherwise, all bets are off!
Given that Halloween is a time of year when some of the thickest, most intricate makeup is applied, you can absolutely bet your boots that there will be some clogged pores that could use a bit of help. This is truly when using a cleansing oil could be a major part of your routine in helping take it all off. The Some by Mi Lacto Soy Sebum and Blackhead Cleansing Oil is a vegan product that's said to help remove blackheads and sebum, while dissolving makeup, as well as improving the condition of your pores, all without stripping away the skin's natural defences and oils.
This comes in a translucent bottle with a pump that dispenses a nice amount of oil with each push. I find about three pumps of this to be enough for removing my daily makeup, and five pumps for particularly challenging bits that can be stubborn to take off. So, I begin with dry skin, and massage the cleansing oil into the skin, working it in with rotational strokes until I can feel my makeup moving around a little. Once I'm ready, I then add a bit of water to the skin to emulsify it, turning it into a milky solution that helps to lift my makeup, dirt and sebum away from my skin.
The formula contains soy milk ferment filtrate and lactobacillus, as well as vegetable oil, and their patented Anti-Sebum P, and I find this to be quite light and easy to use. I love that this doesn't seem to dry my skin out at all, and that it leaves my complexion feeling soft, looking glowy and clean. I do think that this doesn't work quite as well when it's up against white face paint (ie clown makeup etc), but otherwise, it's pretty decent! Made in Korea, Some by Mi has an interesting range of products that I've enjoyed trying, and I'm looking forward to seeing what else they might produce! for about $32, you'll get approximately 200ml of cleansing oil. Do you prefer a cleansing balm, or do you love a cleansing oil?
