Review: La Roche-Posay Mela B3 Niacinamide Serum

It's the end of the first month of Winter - how's your skin feeling? I often feel that, no matter how diligent I've been, my skin still ends up being quite dry. It's all part and parcel of the current weather that we're experiencing, I'm afraid, and you're going through what I am at the moment, I'm so sorry, but just imagine how much worse your skin would be if you weren't already taking pre-emptive measures to ensure that your skin would stand up to these temperatures and cold winds! When it comes to Winter, you can't slack off on the sunscreen either, particularly if you reside in Australia, so make sure that you're still keeping up with that SPF!

Otherwise, we'd have to worry about scary things like skin cancer, sun damage and hyperpigmentation. While you can try your best to prevent the first two, the odd bit of hyperpigmentation might still sneak through, as well as dark spots created by post acne marks and other blemishes, and thankfully, we have a few little weapons up our sleeves to help combat that. I've been using the La Roche-Posay Mela B3 Niacinamide Serum, which has been designed to fight dark spots and hyperpigmentation, as well as soothe skin and boost the skin moisture barrier.

This uses a combination of their multi-patented MelasylTM ingredient annd 10% Niacinamide (also known as Vitamin B3) to both reduce the appearance of current pigmentation, post acne marks, age spots and coloured pigmentation while also targeting the appearance of dark spots even before they appear. It's also meant to help hydrate the skin through the addition of hyaluronic aid and LHA, so that you can be left with an even skin tone, and overall radiant skin.

This comes in a dark purple bottle with a dropper built into the cap. It deposits a reasonable amount of product each time, enough to cover both my face and neck, and I love that this peachy coloured serum has a light, gel-serum consistency, which means that it doesn't take longer than a few seconds for this to get absorbed by the skin. Despite it having a semi-gel texture, this doesn't leave the skin tacky, and rather, my skin feels smooth after it's been applied.

The serum doesn't have a scent to it, and it spreads easily over the skin. I've really enjoyed used this regularly every day, twice a day, for a couple of months! I feel like this has been helping me keep dark spots at bay, and that my skin has been looking clearer. I don't know that this has been doing much in regards to keeping my skin bright, but I do feel like it's been great for clarity. Overall, for $79.95 full priced (but don't forget to shop around - you can often find LRP on sale!), this 30ml bottle of serum is well worth it! Do you worry about hyperpigmentation?
