Review: Tarte Life Lock Hydrating Setting Spray
The change in weather will mean a number of things - pole dancing can be way more difficult, with the dry air, resulting in me not sticking to the pole quite as well, and needing more sticky stuff to stay on. It also means that my skin can feel a lot drier, with the moisture being sapped out of it by the cool air. I find myself looking more haggard this time of year too, and my skin always seems to need a moisture boost by the middle of the day.
Much like other bits of makeup these days, the humble setting spray is no longer confined to doing just what it says on the label. Instead, the Tarte Life Lock Hydrating Setting Spray is now stated to do a number of things, including prepping and setting makeup, intensifying your eyeshadow, extending the wear of makeup, and refreshing and rehydrating skin that's in need of a bit of a pick me up, which is what I tend to find I need, 7 hours into an 11 hour work day.
To prep and set your makeup, simply shake the bottle, then hold it about 8 to 10 inches away from the skin before spraying it in a combination of "X" and "T" formations two to four times. When it comes to making your eyeshadow pop, it's as simple as misting (and I mean misting, not drenching) your eyeshadow brush just prior to you dipping it into your pan. Just as you would layer things like when you're wanting to wear your favourite scent for hours, starting with the shower gel, before moving to the body lotion, and using your perfume as the finishing touch, this can be used sandwiched between the makeup stages so that you can have longer lasting makeup that looks untouched.
Last, but not least, of course, you can spritz it on the skin for a bit of a refresher for when you're in need of hit of hydration during the day. I reach for this when the air is especially dry, and my skin's a little dull. I've tried all of these methods, and I can honestly say that my favourite way to use this is in layers, locking in my makeup every time I apply a fresh swipe of something new. I do love that with this method, it seems to really seal it all in place. This comes in a peach bottle with a metallic cap that's easy to pull off and put back on, and this hides an excellent misting spray that makes it feel light on the skin.
I've also been using the eyeshadow intensifying method for vibrant hues and glitter shades, and it's really making them pop! Mind you, wetting your eyeshadow brush is an old trick for this, but it wasn't until now that I realised you could do this with your setting spray! How brilliant is that! Best of all, aside from being a really functional spray that keeps the makeup on your face, this also contains skin loving ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, AHAs, vitamins and antioxidants. It's available for $27 for 34ml of product and $55 for the larger 100ml bottle, and it can be found at Sephora and their website. Have you tried the Tarte Life Lock Hydrating Setting Spray?
