Review: Recreation Beauty Lost In Dusk Eau De Parfum

It's been a few years now, but I can absolutely state that Recreation Beauty stole my heart a while back, and it's been an ongoing love affair with their products since! For those who may not have had the pleasure to try out their fragrances yet, I would highly recommend doing so. Australian born and bred, this brand embodies exactly what an Australian fragrance line should be. I've just about loved everything I've tried from them so far, and I'm mostly just shocked that I haven't tried their body oils yet, at this point! I was recently sent the latest scent from Recreation Beauty, Lost In Dusk EDP, and it has been the perfect accompaniment to the change in weather, with the temperature and humidity dropping, and the wind picking up. It's around this time of year when the days get shorter, and the nights stay cooler, and the cosy blankets and clothes for bundling up in start to make their way out of storage. Like with my skincare, I tend to swap things around when it comes to perfumes as the weather changes, and Lost In Dusk is just right for the Autumn nights.

A dark, sensual scent, Lost In Dusk is made up of:

  • Top notes: Saffron, Bergamot, Myrrh
  • Heart: Coffee, Plum, Narcissus
  • Base: Vanilla, Mahogany, Oakmoss, Amber

When I was blind testing this, without looking up the notes, the first thing that came at me was the bergamot - a floral splash to begin with, which then opened in a darker plum scent that I found lingered on me throughout the day, morphing slightly as the hours went by. It's rounded out with a very sensual amber and creamy vanilla notes, as well as a hint of woody mahogany, intermingling to give an absolutely gorgeous dark plummy scent with traces of floral, woody notes. To me, it reflects the colour of the perfume itself - dark, and a little mysterious.

Available as a 50 ml bottle, sitting at $124, or as a travel size vial for $49 for 12 ml, this can also be found as part of their Discovery Set, so that you can truly try before you commit yourself to a large bottle of it. I love the concept of Discovery/Sample Sets, as I feel like they give the user a lot more freedom and flexibility for trying it out, noting possible adverse reactions, and seeing how the scents may develop on the skin over different days. This EDP can be found over here. What's your favourite Recreation Beauty scent?
