Review: Q+A Caffeine Eye Serum

This week has been a weird one for weather, hasn't it? Hot, a little cool, humid, stormy and sunny - it's had it all! It's also been quite a big week for my emotions. I love my job as a veterinarian, but full disclosure, it can sometimes be overwhelming, and occasionally, it gets very sad, and I've been feeling A LOT of feelings recently, and I sometimes wish I weren't quite so soft after almost two decades in the field. What that ultimately means is that for the last few days, I've been trying to keep my eyes looking bright and perky, despite turning on the waterworks.

I was doing some shopping online at Priceline recently, when I came across the Q+A Caffeine Eye Serum, and let me tell you, I was super grateful this week that I clicked Add To Cart when I did! As it says on the label, this is a caffeine based eye serum that claims to help reduce the appearance of ageing around the eyes, toning the skin and helping to brighten dark eye circles. The hero ingredient, caffeine, is meant to help improve circulation by refreshing the skin, while also reducing puffiness.

There's also green tea extract, which is said to be a powerful antioxidant, and this is supposed to help protect the skin against environmental aggressors. Additionally, pomegranate extract is part of the formula to help fight free radicals, given that this has antioxidant benefits, and is meant to tone the skin. This comes as a serum that is packed into a tube with a rollerball and a screw cap, and while I thought that this was quite clever, this packaging turned out to have a bit of a flaw.

I stored this upside down for a day, and when I removed the cap, I realised that there was a bit of product that must have gathered in the cap throughout the day, making it a little messy. I've been storing it upright since, and it hasn't been an issue. It's not dramatic, but does mean that this may not be suitable for travel. The rollerball does a great job of spreading the product across my skin in a thin layer, and it also lets me smooth it into the under eye area in a methodical and systemic fashion.

I like that this does make my eyes look a little less puffy, and I'm truly grateful for anything that might be helping me fake it until I can hopefully eventually make it. That said, the dark eye circles remain a constant. For a mere $15, this eye serum is actually quite decent, and I love that this cruelty free, vegan and fragrance free product is accessible for lots of people. I also like that the website says it's suitable for mature skin, and that it seems to work for mine. Is this something that you'd look to try for yourself?
